I REALLY like this bathroom! Alex and I make houses all the time, and we just can't figure out how to make toilets. We use diffrent ways to make them, but this is great! I also like the newspaper :P

Thanks Brandon. It was fun to build...but alas, I took it apart about three weeks ago. I've been in a cleaning frenzy for the last few days. The Desdemona is done but my area is a mess as a result. Now, I've got ten pounds of LEGO to sort back into my collection. I went ahead and trashed EVERY unfinished project lying around my desk...so now I don't have room for anything. I guess it's not such a bad problem...too much LEGO is never enough.

So your first set was a Classic Space set circa 1980? Which one? My first set was same theme, same era -- the Alpha-1 Rocket Base (actually, it was given to my brother, not to me, but I played with it as much as he did). The Beta-1 Command Base followed in short order (this time, to me), and those two sets still hold a huge space in my heart.
Still have all your original LEGOs? I think I could still build 95% of Alpha-1 and Beta-1 with the original pieces. A handful have been lost, broken, or chewed up by various dogs, and the smiley faces have been rubbed off the original minifigs, but somehow the collection largely survived numerous toy-purges over the years.
The set I coveted and never received: the Galaxy Explorer. At the time, it seemed like Holy Grail of Classic Space. By the time I had the resources to go after the big sets, the blue-and-gray era was over and Classic Space was all white-and-green...

"Well, you know they were gonna have to do SOMETHING to muck it up. I guess changing the name was the least harmless modification to make. And "3vil" probably didn't test too well with mothers." Being in marketing myself...I honestly understand their choice...I just like to complain about it. :P

"No...I am not a professional. However getting paid to build with LEGO would be a dream come true. I don't think I could ever work with TLG though. They have a ton of rules and guide-lines that MUST be followed to design their sets. There are many building techniques that put various amounts of stress on the bricks and TLG cannot do that. Heck, they can't even use a connection where the LEGO emblem on the top of the stud touches anything. Here's another practical example. A 1 X 2 brick or tile will fit into the side of a 1 X 2 technic brick with two pin-holes...I use it all the time. But since the Technic brick is a technic brick, they will not use any connections other than pins. The stud diameter places too much "stress" on the inside of the pin-holes, according to TLG engineers." Man... sounds heavy...
Heavy stress... I mean...

Thanks for the comment on my July entry! I just noticed it. I was pretty upset because vehicles have always been my field and I was on vacation, without my thousands of Legos! So I bought th A-Wing and once I made the FSW fighter, I knew I had to enter it. This month's entry is the "finished product" Lacerta space/air fighter. Let me know what you think!
PS I LOVE all of your stuff. One of these days I'm gonna go back and colo-match all of my stuff, but that's a lot of digging, possibly buying. Again, It's all amazing!

Thanks Z....Yes, color-scheming is very important for a Space MOC. Keeping a tight color-scheme gives the piece visual integrity. I know it's hard to do when you have a limited piece pool, but keeping with a color-scheme can also inprove your skills. You will be forced to work with certain pieces, to find new uses for them. Give it a try and post your results. - Cheers!

Nice kit bashing, by the way. My husband does it a lot with his miniatures (he plays WWII miniature games). Thanks for creating the awesome gallery. I hope others will follow suit, now that they have some competition. :)
Tell your friends about BrickiWiki!
