FalconhurstThis is a featured page

Falconhurst is the home of Michael "Archangel" Washburne. It is locatedat the heart of the ring of expansion, the solar system of the ancient, decimated planet Earth. Falconhurst is not on Earth, however, but on its neighbor, Venus. It floats in the thick atmosphere, 50 kilometers above the surface. It is home to many other families, and is essentially a castle in the sky. Falconhurst is not the first colony on Venus, but it is very old. It dates back to before the expansion to the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, or at least the upper half does. The lower half, containing hangars and the shopping districts, is newer, added after the advent of the plasma drive, a precursor to the laser drive, which necessitated the need for extra space for traveling craft.

Falconhurst's location in the poorest system of the settled galaxy, especially in the somewhat harsh environment of Venus, keeps it from coming under attack by the Federation. It serves as a stepping stone for pilgrims to Jerusalem, Mecca, and many other sites on Earth. The breathtaking atmosphere makes Venus a popular tourist destination for the middle class, and if it weren't for the Washburne family, and for the Durlindana family, another family residing on Falconhurst, the Sol System would have crumbled under the grip of organized crime. The system is not only full of the poorest planets, (with Venus as the exception), but also pirates that fly from the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Washburnes and the Durlindanas led the fight to eradicate the major crime rings, but they didn't mind the pirates, because the pirates only attack the Federation warships. Most, of them, anyway; some of the pirates don't like anybody, but tourists are usually guaranteed safe passage through the treacherous asteroid belt for a reasonable fee.
After Michael Washburne joined the Alliance, Federation warships descended en masse on the system, but were turned away by the pirates under the Leadership of Roland Durlindana, flying the Pegasus. Washburne convinced Gannon that the people in the Sol System would gladly fight the Federation which had ignored their plight, and the Alliance commanders flew to Falconhurst as a base of operations for the supplying and recruitment of soldiers from the Sol System.

As we fly in, we see the magnificent castle-in-the-sky

It's pretty tall, too

Kind of looks like a cross of some sort.

This is the uppermost viewing deck;
Also, the communications center and air traffic
control center are located here.
The big black thing as a radar dish/comm antenna

As we fly closer, we see the central shaft
which contains the main elevators to the lower level.
Power/water pipes run through the outer supports

Those X-pods are useful....
These protrusions are water-circulating pipes;
much like geothermal energy on land, they
provide power and heated water by reaching
into the Venusian clouds
Also, there are gas converters in the pillars.

Absolutley awesome... but... RANDOM FACT 37: If you tried to do this on Venus, it would be crushed in a matter of seconds... due to its sheer gravity...

This is a really cool idea, good job! I really like the mini scale lacerta. I've never tried doing anything other than minifig scale before, so I think I should give it a go. The upmost viewing deck is nice too!
