LEGO Places and GatheringsThis is a featured page

There now are four LEGOland theme parks around the world. The parks feature giant LEGO sculptures, rides, interactive exhibits, and hands-on play.

The first LEGOland in Billund, Denmark, opened in 1968. It has play areas, including Knights Kingdom and Pirateland, and even has a LEGOland Hotel (made for real people).

The Windsor, England, LEGOland opened in 1996. Windsor is about an hour’s distance by train or car from London; a shuttle bus runs from the Windsor train station to the theme park. This park’s centerpiece is Miniland, a vast European cityscape made of 40 million LEGO bricks, including a scale model of London’s Trafalgar Square.

Nathan Sawaya's T-Rex at LEGOland, CaliforniaLEGOland California opened in 1999 as LEGO’s first park in the United States. It’s located in Carlsbad, about a half hour’s drive north of San Diego, and features the Coastersaurus roller coaster and life-size LEGO dinosaurs.

LEGOland Germany opened in 2002.

LEGO also has a few LEGO stores in the U.S. --
one each at Downtown Disney at Disneyland and Disney World, and one at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. There is also a store in Ontario, California.

Has anyone out there been here? What is the ideal age range for kids? And... how long does it take to get through the whole park? I would love to take my family, but I also wanted to plan ahead for the right time!
